An open letter to the President

I'm upset.  I admit it.  And I am one who has fought the "UNAFFORDABLE HEALTH CARE ACT" from the beginning.

Now, I'm disgusted.

So, I wrote to the man in the big white house, today.  And THIS is what I said.

SIR:  You have failed to explain how someone who has no job, no income, is supposed to be able to afford your ridiculous tax/insurance mandate!

My wife has been looking for a job for more than 2 years... and has NOT been able to get more than 2 or three interviews out of hundreds of applications.

I am disabled; I am on Medicare, my wife is approaching retirement, but we need everything we can get.

PLEASE EXPLAIN how we are supposed to be able to follow this rule?

I invite you to CALL, but I doubt that you will.

I request some insight as to how we manage without losing our house!

And I bet that there will be no call, not that I would expect one.

IF...and that's a very big "IF"... I get a response, I'll post it here.  But I sure as hell don't expect one.  That's just a fact...not even in question-- AS I SEE IT!

September, time for AUGUST Canaries!

Absurdity! Absurdity! It's time to issue a Canary or three!

Not Dog, nor cat, nor horse, nor rabbit... I'm in the CANARY HABIT!

Ah, August was a FINE MONTH for nominees for the Canary awards! From a debt collector, to the Govt, to the Mortgage company, to a guy on Twitter, to the weather, to the power company, to the Satellite Company, to the Phone Company, to the anesthesiologist... OH, I had nominees galore.

It wasn't too hard to determine who was gonna get the BIRD. The question was who was gonna get WHICH bird.

While the weather caused a lot of problems last month (Tearing off the roof, wrecking a carport, leaving us without power for 41 hours, without phone service for 72 hours, and without satellite service for 60 hours, the weather STILL came in a distant fourth place.

Third place goes to a MORON whom I will not mention by name. He's a real jerk on Twitter. I thought there was hope for him, but I find I was wrong. This half-wit thinks that FAITH and FICTION are the same thing, seems to think if you can't quantify something it doesn't exist.

Well, I'm gonna respond to that: You can't see the stars in the day time. Therefore they don't exist. You can't see AIR. Therefore it doesn't exist. You can't see his brain, so it doesn't exist. (OH, I'm sorry -- he doesn't HAVE a brain, so it's obvious why you can't see it!)

To this fool, I want to point out that FAITH is a belief. SURE, you can believe in something that is an error. YOU have faith in Medical science. You believe that when you go to a physician, that he can cure you of what ails you. And just what happens when you are wrong?

I CAN'T SEE YOU, YOU do NOT EXIST, buddy! Bronze Canary for whatever your name is. I have NO REASON to believe that you told me the truth about your name. (SEE, that's my FAITH in action. My faith is in your lack of honesty!)

Second place gets the silver canary! And our all inclusive favorite "Debt collectors" get one this month. I was waiting for someone to come examine the house for repair work after the big storm. I see someone pull into the drive (Which is marked NO TRESPASSING), but I knew the insurance adjuster had my permission. To my surprise, it was a F***ing ass who was trying a door-to-door harassment approach to debt collection. I chased him off, told him "I have no time to talk to you. If you come back, I'll have you up on charges of Trespass." While I've not seen him since, I suspect he will return. And I will have the police out here in a matter of minutes!

And our illustrious GOLD CANARY, for the group I want to give the BIRD...goes to Mn School District 912! Since I moved to this area, I have voted down 8 times a proposed levy to "help" the schools around here. 7 times they've had the question on the ballot, one year they had it twice. I've voted it down 3 times in the last 2 years. And sure enough, these "TAX AND SPEND" jerks are at it again, Trying to get us to raise our property taxes for "The kids." But the thing is, they are spending A hundred Thousand trying to get us to raise the taxes! Why don't they stop trying to get us to raise our taxes and spend that money on THE KIDS? Because these morons on fundamentally STUPID, and their evil goes beyond sanity, beyond the darkest imagining of Stephen King! Raise my taxes? NO, NO, A THOUSAND TIMES NO, AND YOU WILL LOSE AGAIN, AS LONG AS I LIVE IN MN DISTRICT 912!

There you have it -- the Canary awards for August. If you have nominations, send 'em, and your explanation why they deserve a canary award. Who knows, maybe I'll give them THE BIRD for YOU!

The Taxoholics are at it again!

Minnesota is a land of taxes. Income tax, sales tax, property tax, marriage tax, auto license tax, business license tax, estate tax, and more. Last year, the people were fooled when they supported an increase in the sales tax by 3/8% of 1%. The money was SUPPOSED to go for wildlife and "Arts", but what do you suppose happened? It went into the general fund. Now, the state is spending it (More accurately, the DEMOCRATS are spending it) while the state gripes about there not being enough to make their obligations. Oh, how typical!

In my area, the taxoholics are at it AGAIN. 7 times in the 13 years I've been here (And this will be my last year here unless there is a freaking unexpected miracle) the school district has had a ballot referendum, and the same has been rejected 8 times! (They had 2 referenda questions last year, both rejected by good margins, as all of them have been...but the last one was closer than any of the others.

They've had these questions 2 years straight, now. And I was at the market, spotted the headline on the local paper: Ballot Referendum approved for November. THREE STRAIGHT YEARS. Theses Tax-o-holics NEVER give up. They are losers, sore losers, who cannot and will not take "NO" for an answer.

I will not be in this area after January of 2011. But there is a principle involved here. Forcing the people to vote on the same question 3, 4, 5 years straight when they have rejected it 8 times is ridiculous. It's unfair. I'd almost call it unconstitutional, but that wouldn't be correct. But these fools, dorks, spendthrift Demoncrats are at it again, trying to get us to raise our property taxes by 200/year, or more. NO WAY, YOU JACKASSES!

I have voted no on ALL school referenda questions since 1979. I will continue to do so. The Government shouldn't be involved in the schools anyway. Not the Fed, not the state.

I am supporting a law to prohibit reprising the questions more than 1 time in 3 years. It is UNFAIR to the people to have to say NO, NO, NO, NO, NO! But these jerks seem to think it will wear the NAY-Voters down. And it hasn't worked yet. Last year it was an 8% margin of defeat. It's going to be BIG this year. Bigger than ever. And I, for one, am going to write a scathing letter to the school district about BEGGING in this manner. And I am going to tell them STOP SPENDING ALL YOUR MONEY SUPPORTING THIS TAX INCREASE, AND SPEND IT ON THE SCHOOLS. They spend $10,000 plus each time they try this, and they are wasting their budget money. It just goes to show that these fools think a sob story is gonna work for them. I'm here to prove them wrong!

These taxoholics MUST BE SILENCED, by LAW IF NECESSARY. And it seems necessary--AS I SEE IT!

Another problem with the healthcare bill

I mentioned cost of the premiums...and what happens if you don't have insurance. So, what's the schtick? Let's say you lose your job, and don't have enough for everything: Food, mortgage or rent, Insurance, misc. bills. Or worse, you have no money at all -- nothing for house payment, anything. You can't make your house payment (Like what's happened here), you get foreclosed. You can't make the insurance, you get FINED. What kind of BULLSHIT is this?

And now, they want to tax the benefits from insurance, too. We're paying from the wallet, and through the nose. It's enough to make you sick...oops, you can't GET sick without insurance.

It's time to throw the bums out. Pelosi, Obama, Frank, Reid...all the crooks who have voted for this are robbing you blind. Thing is, they are politicians -- it's called "TAXES".

Let's put these morons on a park bench -- no health care, and fine 'em for not having it. Take away their pensions, tax their investments 110%. Let's see how they like it!

Health Care "REFORM" -- Good, Bad, Evil, or something else?

Last night, I stayed up to watch the House of Representatives take a vote to "End" a battle that's been going on for a while -- a battle to "Reform" health care. I watched from BOTH SIDES of the issue, both as a REPUBLICAN, and a man with a condition that is now called "Pre-existing". My wife's diabetes is now called "Pre-existing". If she has any more heart problems, THAT will be called "Pre-existing." My Asthma? Same. It's a catch-22 situation, a Kobayashi Maru, (For Trek fans) Is the Government really providing health care? No, not for the vast majority of Americans who are under 65. All they have done is make insurance available to everyone. "Pre-existing" conditions will not be allowed to keep people off of insurance. Caps on "lifetime" amounts will be abolished. While I agree, in principle, to those parts, it's the rest of bill to which I object. We will NOT have a choice on insurance. You'll have it. It's required, now. You'll still have to pay a premium, and a deductible. What deductible? Who knows? Maybe it's been set at 300, maybe 7500. How much will your premiums be? I fear that they will be more than they are now. If you are generally healthy male, no smoking, 30, you'll probably be paying 300/month. Have a family? Triple it. Figure, a family of 3, no smokers -- you'll be paying about 1000 a month. If you're not healthy (Let's say diabetic, asthma) your rate will be more like 1500-2000 a month. I can't afford that! Thing is, if you don't have insurance, now, you can be FINED $700 each year. The IRS has been given the right to invade your privacy, to demand to know if you have insurance or not. If you lie on the tax form, it's perjury, a big fine, jail time, and a criminal record. I'm sorry to say I have not read the entire bill... It's heavy reading, almost to the point of WAR AND PEACE. There are stories and rumors of "Death Panels," being forced to change doctors, Long waits, and medicine rationing. TRUE: Insurance companies, Pharmaceutical companies, Medical device companies will have to pay increased taxes... 60 BILLION in new taxes, which will come right back to the consumer in the form of increased premiums. Probably true: Medicines are likely to get rationed. The higher taxes on Pharmaceutical companies will force them to cut costs, make few drugs--which will, eventually cause shortages. Pharmacies in Washington State (Walgreens) have already begun warning people that they will no longer take new medicare/medicaid patients effective 4-16. This warning was issued before the Health-care scam which has been passed was law. Possible: Switching doctors, longer waits. While I doubt you'll have to go across country to see a doctor who would send you across country to another specialist, I suspect that you'll probably have little say in your doctor. If you're in Brainerd, you may have to travel to Duluth. Or if you're in Ocala, you might wind up in Tallahassee, or Tampa. If you're in Alaska, you might wind up in Canada...but that's speculation. "Death Panels" I suspect is an exaggeration, but I really need to review the full bill. But everything IS going to get reviewed by the GOVT. That means IRS, Bureaucracies, waits. And NO PRIVACY. How are we going to pay? Increased premiums. HIGHER MEDICARE/MEDICAID taxes. Probably higher deductibles. Money will be taken away from Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security (As if they didn't have enough problems as it is) To make matters worse, ILLEGALS will still get it all for FREE. Why should we, as Americans, have to subsidize a bunch of criminals? This WILL affect Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security...probably with lower payments. Doctors will stop taking Medicare/Medicaid. Since they won't be able to call their own shots (pun not intended), many medical professionals will leave the field, and nobody will be coming in. This WILL result in even longer waits than we have now. What bugs ME is that we have NO CHOICE in the matter. NONE. The Government (BIG BROTHER OBAMA and his LACKEYS, plus some of his communist puppets in Congress) is forcing the matter. And already the states are fighting back. I say, folks, be prepared. Stock up on your meds, as you may never get a chance to renew them again, reasonably, if at all. I can't imagine an auto mechanic doing open heart surgery...but it's looking more and more like that could happen. It's a frightening Scenario: AS I SEE It!

Obama Care, and the current fracas

Labor is up in arms over a 40% tax proposed in the Senate Health Care Bill. WE WARNED YOU! You didn't listen! You're getting what you deserve! Unfortunately, you're gonna drag EVERYONE down. WE WARNED YOU. SO, I say "SHUT THE F*** UP" or STOP THE BILL." Take your pick, morons! We WARNED you against Obama. We WARNED you against his proposed "Plan." And NOW, because you didn't listen, we're ALL gonna pay the price! That's what happens, folks, when you get greedy -- or think your gonna get something for nothing. You're gonna get a taste of your own medicine. I guess you ought to take your place in line, NOW. You're gonna die while waiting for treatment, folks. That's the facts of the matter. Oh, you think I'm being "Too blunt, too mean." Too bad, crybabies! I am right. And I, among others, warned you. Yep, folks. WE TOLD YOU SO! To sum up: "I say you get what you deserve. So walk DA plank, ya nasty scurves!" The FACTS of the matter: Blunt as ever...AS I SEE IT.

Actively awarding canaries!

Of all the awards given under the sun, The CANARY award is both BRUTAL and FUN.

So join the countdown; it will not get old. Let's award the Canaries, Bronze, Silver and GOLD.

What a month for nominations for canaries! I mean REALLY. I had 10 in the first 10 days, and picked up 10 more by the end of the month. ONE organization got TWO nominations! (That is a first for the canary!)

The DFL got a nomination (For Obamacare), the Nobel committee (for their pathetic attempt at pandering to Obama) 2 insurance companies, a local bank, a local medical provider organization, The President, collection agencies, a credit card... well, you get the idea. I had NO PROBLEM choosing the Biggest hassle. I quickly eliminated Cuzzi (the umpire who screwed up a call in the Twins/Yankees series), the Yankees, and some minor annoyances. I finally trimmed the list to 5 "Losers."

The only way to give everyone their due is to use a "Dishonorable Mention," and this month it includes 2 of them. Hopefully, the HIGH Nomination will drop off now.

In a tie for the Dishonorable Mention award, my local bank and the FAIRVIEW organization. The Bank refused to cash a check for us (although it was not from our account), even though the check was from a well respected law firm. It made our situation even tighter than it should have been. But it doesn't deserve the BIRD, but a fruit call (Raspberry).Fairview also gets a fruit call for a double nomination, submitting bills to the wrong companies, and a LATE DEBT VALIDATION. (They had 30 days to get it here, it took closer to 60. I am in consultation about that)

So, who gets the Bronze Canary? This month, this no-so prestigious award has to go to the DFL party. Their constant harassment over "OBAMACARE" is a pain. Did you know it will boost taxes, and force people who cannot afford it to buy it and pay a penalty to boot? The taxes would start nearly immediately, but no benefits would be received for 3 years. So, you get a new tax right away (which will push more people into the poor house), while giving illegals the right to govt. run insurance (No citizenship proof is required. This is NOT good) The plans won't go into effect until 3 years after it's signed (if it's passed and signed), so that's 3 nice years of extra taxes for the working folk. So, the DFL gets the BIRD.

The Silver Canary goes to our local fuel co-op. We use propane, and they decided (Without warning) to stick us on the "Pay on Delivery" plan. This arbitary decision on their part really sticks it to us in the wallet. While I can't blame them for the decision, they did not notify us. That earns them the SILVER CANARY. I extend my disdain for the company, and award them THE BIRD.

Do I REALLY need to tell you who won the GOLD CANARY? It's everybody's favorite to hate: HOUSEHOLD BANK! I was documenting calls from them since the 13th. To the 30th, from this jackass group, we received 72 calls, over 60 after the first request to stop, 13 after the second. For this constant violation of the FDCPA, refusal to stop, hanging up on us, giving us shit... I had no choice but to award them the Bird.

For Harassment, Household is in a class by itself. We're consulting an attorney. To apply a little of my favorite term from PHINEAS AND FERB: They're busted!

Some organizations... You can't live with 'em. You've gotta wish they'd disappear!

The Cap and Trade act...tax...whatever

Well, the "Stimulus" secret is out. It's a 6000 a year rise in your energy bills. No, it won't occur all at once, but it WILL occur if we don't stop the "CRAP AND TAX" act. How do we stop it? Write your Senators NOW. ESPECIALLY if they're up for Re-election. UNFORTUNATELY, my state has only one Senator, a DFLer who more than likely supports the tax increase. I have NOT verified that yet, but it seems to be a given.

8 Republicans, Including Mary Bono Mack of California, voted for this freaking tax rise. 44 democrats voted against. I don't know who they were, yet. I HOPE to find out, and thank them for trying.

So, how are we going to fight back? Petitions will help, for now. But your VOTE is going to make a big difference. But I want to say NOW, AND FOR THE RECORD: I WARNED YOU ABOUT taxes going up if the DFL grabbed power.

SOME DFLers exercised common sense, or at least were afraid of losing their position in Congress if they voted "YES".

Taxes in MN are on the rise, higher state taxes (Thanks to the Dam*** DFL), they plan to eliminate the mortgage interest deduction on the income tax (Oh, great idea... money you ain't got you get taxed on. Great idea, DFL)

License fees are on the way up. And don't forget: There are a BUNCH of assinine idiots on power trips around here. When you get stopped for interrogation at 1 PM, when you are carrying nothing -- and you want to go home....why the hell are you stopped? Because the DAMN COP is on a power trip!

You tell him you need to use the bathroom, he tries to detain you, and you tell him... "I can drop my pants HERE, but I don't think you'll appreciate that," goe across the street to use the bathroom, and find three cops waiting for you -- you tell him "STOP HARASSING ME" -- and get cuffed for no fu***** reason?

Abandon state! The "Liberty and Justice" which we so solemnly affirm in the Pledge of Allegiance -- doesn't exist in Minnesota.

Oh, you think it doesn't happen? It most certainly DOES. And I don't exaggerate this event. It takes 3 cops to stop someone who has broken no law, a guy who's 50 and weighs less than 150? Just what the hell are they teaching these idiots? How to be bullies in 3 easy lessons?

So, if you plan on Moving TO Minnesota, (New state motto "Taxes, no justice, and a whole lot more") you'd better rethink your destination.

SOON, I will be OUTTA HERE. And I will pronounce a curse upon 4 cities, 2 counties, and the state as a whole.

Behold, Minnesota, your house is forsaken and desolate.

May the flames of Hell engulf Milaca, Princeton, Mille Lacs, Sherburne, Anoka, and Richfield, forever -- upon my removal of the last of my possessions in this state.
