It's a joke... And I'm not joking!

There's an old saying that you can't borrow money unless you've borrowed money.  But you can't borrow money unless you've borrowed money.  But when you try to borrow money, you can't borrow money because you've never borrowed money.  And if they won't loan you anything because you've never been permitted to borrow?  Well... It's total BS.

I have decided to try to rebuild my credit.  It's been 8 years since a major derogatory remark has appeared, and it won't drop off for 2 more years.
All accounts were closed to eliminate temptations.

My Air Conditioning unit gave out.  So , it becomes more urgent that I re-establish.

One website gave me "Good approval chance" on a particular card.  One was a high interest, unsecured card.  One was a lower interest, secured card.  One was secured, smaller amount needed and an annual fee.

I tried for a loan to get my heat pump replaced.  Shot down.  So, went to another place.  Rejected.
Was going to try a 3rd, but I could see that I was disqualified. So, used the website, went for unsecured... And...Rejected.

Interesting.  My wife had a closed account, balance due, but past SOL.
She chose HIGH INTEREST, HIGH ANNUAL FEE... and got it.
EXCUSE ME?
I have just a little less than 2x her income.  And I get rejected.
Something is screwy in the system.

So, Because I have no open accounts, no credit history (As such) except for for a couple of black marks, I get rejected and yet, she who has a balance due (with that same card?!) gets approved.
Can somebody get me through to those idiots?  ::sigh::

So, 3 hard inquiries and no chances.  These queries will be on my record until September 2020.  And my other marks will be gone in November.

The system is a joke.  You can't borrow unless you've borrowed, but nobody will lend because you haven't borrowed (Even though you have, but they're off the report)

Yep, it's a joke...and I'm not joking... AS I SEE IT

They can't read, don't think, or think I'm too stupid to live up to what I say!

I've been attempting to sell some stuff on Craig's list.  You've heard of it.  They've got a good reach.  Only problem:  You never get the answers you want or need.  I've sold a few things, but... When you make a post, say one particular method of payment and ONLY that...And then they write?

I've been trying to sell a good, upright freezer.  Solid idea, need cash.  Before today, I posted with the ad :CASH ONLY.

Damn asshole tried to get my name and address for a payment sent by UPS or FEDEX.  Didn't ask for dimensions.  Didn't ask for specs.  Didn't ask for age or color. Didn't even ask for pictures.

I told him, "The ad said cash only."

I didn't hear back from him.

Yesterday, I reposted the ad.  Today, I had a person inquiring.  Wanted to know if still available.  I answered in the affirmative.  He replies "Remove it from CL, you've sold it."  But didn't ask for pictures, dimensions, color or age.  He tells me he's getting married next year.  Great.  But he wants Name, address... FOR UPS/FEDEX payment.  I posted TWICE on this one:  CASH ONLY.  and "Other methods of payment will not be considered."

I've not checked my Email since.  If he's going to try to get me to take "UPS" or "FEDEX" payment, he'd better do one of three things:  1) Learn to read.  2) Learn that I mean what I say when I say CASH ONLY. or 3 ) Go to jail, go directly to jail, do not pass go, do not collect a free freezer.

Like I say, I've not checked my Email yet.  I expect either a scathing reply with threats or a deafening silence.  If I am wrong and he wants to bring the cash, GREAT.  But he's not gonna get me to take a "Certified check" or "money order."  I know better!  IF he wants to make it a personal check, and is willing to wait UNTIL THE CHECK CLEARS... or until I call the bank to verify the person's name, address, licence, phone, account, and balance.... OR if he wants to bring cash...well, we'll see.

IF I get a reply, I'll post it here.  But remember, folks:  I'm on to the scams.  If I can't meet you face-to-face for deals, I doubt that I'll do a thing.  I had ONE guy...no, make that two... who actually bilked me.  Actually, one charged 100 bucks for something I could have gotten at the library for FREE... (I was young and foolish), and the other one stole info from my wife...at a cost of 47 bucks.  I guess that's why all payments are electronic today and checks are going the way of the dodo.

As they said in THE MUSIC MAN:  "CASH for the Merchandise, CASH for the HARD GOODS..."

Sorry, folks.  Fool me once, shame on you.  Fool me twice, Shame on me.  I'm gonna keep you honest, you S.O.B.  And I ain't gonna get bilked by the scammers!

I'm open for a new award name!

Today's number is 27250. Or 382251 if you want to go to extremes.

I've been watching a lot of TV recently. More than I would have expected 5 months ago. And I'm extremely surprised at the situation. I'm seeing commercials that are so stupid it's hard to classify them as anything but nonsense.

I'm sure you've seen the Geico Gecko, right? It's as bad as the Caveman...worse when you consider their stupidity.

There's one for JC Penney. Yes, but it IS their commericial, and I simply MUST comment. They're showing back to school stuff, and a tight schedule. But they are STUPID. Why? Well, they show a band concert scheduled at 7:30. But unless you're an ensemble, or a rock band, this simply doesn't wash. BAND PRACTICE... BIG CONCERT. The student is very busy practicing her violin. I'm sure she's getting it down. What's the problem? VIOLINS ARE NOT PART OF A BAND. They are part of an orchestra. Is JC PENNEY so stupid as to think I don't know the difference?

But this leads me to the new award. I need a title of some sort. I'm thinking of the golden toilet. Let me see if you can give me any ideas for better names, but you need to know the whole story.

I walked out to the mailbox today. Mail seldom brings any good news, today was no real exception, except for the stupidity I found in the mailbox. I received a check. Oh, is that all, you're asking? Well -- if you saw the amount, you'd see the Golden Toilet award.

This check came from Merrill-Lynch, the new AIG when it comes to waste. Or is it the new Obama administration? ::sigh::

How much does it cost to print a check? probably a few cents for ink, 10 cents for the check? Maybe? The envelope is maybe 25-30 cents. Postage is .44. And then there's the time spent to process, PLUS the gas to take the check to the bank, plus the processing time at the bank, phone calls...

Yeah, there are 5 senses. And there is one senseless. This Astonishing check couldn't buy a gallon of gas. It couldn't by a gumball.

Paging Mr. Bill Gates! Or Mr. Luke Sidewalker? What do you do with a check for 6 cents?

It's definitely time for the golden toilet award...and believe me, what they wasted to send this check wasn't worth what they spent.

SIX CENTS. STUPIDITY AND WASTE AT ITS WORST... As I see it!

Oh, What a Beautiful Morning?

Today's number is 40250. Or 405251. A different angle makes it 18223, but
this is a count-down, not an add up. Why is it so tough to get you folks to
figure it out? Yesterday, I could also have said 6250, but nobody would
understand that.

I awoke this morning to a cool, damp day. Cloudy, no chance of doing what I
hope to do.
I need to go down to the Co-op, get some stuff (And I have to take a
freaking detour -- bridge out!)

It's shortly after noon when I get to the co-op, and get the stuff that's
been set out. A quick fill -- the day is looking nice, now. It might just
be a nice day.

I have to drop off the stuff I got. So, I go deliver it, and I am on the
way home. I turn onto the paved road...and the truck starts acting up. The
speedometer is jumping around, and I think it may be that I've turned the
key too far. I don't want to take chances on the highway, I want to get
home. That's great. I'm on the home street now. I stop, turn off the
engine. I figure it will clear the problem.

I start up, the truck is doing the same freaking thing. This is NOT good.
Zero to 50 to 20 to 50 back to zero and up to 40 again. Fortunately just a
mile home., and I'll check things out there.
Pull in, stop. Look under the hood. No apparent problems. Back to start
and check again. OOPS. It's not starting! Not even the slightest turnover
No clicks. Nothing. I find a bad fuse, but don't have a proper
replacement. I find something else. Nope. That truck is as dead as a 3000
year old mummy.

Just when the day starts looking good, things go wrong. I let the truck
cool, go and check under it. Muffler damaged. No help. Looking under hood,
trying to find trouble. No sign. Belts ok, Oil ok, gas OK, coolant ok.
Except for the one fuse, there shouldn't be a problem. But the truck just
won't start.

I'm under the truck, and it starts to rain. It clouded up in a very short
time. And what do we have to show for the day? A truck that doesn't work.
No way to fix it until Monday, at earliest AND we need to have it towed in.
That's another hundred we can't afford. I tell ya, I must be cursed.

I fear we'll find it is going to cost more to repair that truck than it's
worth. After 2 tires, and a brake job last month, we get hit again, this
time by an unknown problem which with the symptom is "It won't start! "

I'd just bury the beast. But what can we do without transport? I know
where I can get a car for a grand...but I don't HAVE a grand!

Will someone turn off the bad luck machine, please?

Everybody wants to get into the act.

Today's number, for you numerilogical nuts, is 41250. Almost put 41270. Boy, I'm glad I caught that. Of course 41250=406251. Are you STILL having trouble guessing? I never woulda thought....:)

It seems that EVERYBODY wants to get into the act. You may recognize that expression as coming from the Late Jimmy Durante, aka "The Shnozz."

Today, there's a letter demanding 500 bucks (Which we ain't got), to be paid in 15 days at the latest. Then there's another demanding 1914.60 to be paid in 60 days. (That's impossible, too). Somebody else calls, requesting 200 bucks. (How's that? HEY, BUDDY, have you seen my bank account recently?)

Then, a canary award nominee for August writes and tells us to REPLACE THE ROOF, OR WE WILL NOT INSURE YOU. HOW the HELL am I supposed to come up with 10 grand to replace the roof? I had it repaired 2 years ago, but the half-witted fools claim it was never done. I HAVE my proof, but it's packed away because we'll be moving. Trying to find that proof is going to be like locating a needle in a haystack.

This morning, there was a call from another nitwit, whom we've told before, "You'll get it when we've got it, and not before. Don't call us again!" Of course the BANK wants money, as do the mortgage companies. How is a guy to play tomato? (IE, Catch-up?)

I expect calls tomorrow from at least 10 different idiots, and I know exactly what I am going to say. "Tell ya what, buddy. You give me enough to pay you guys off, and I'll be happy. But you can't afford it, either, can ya, dude?"

On the crazy side, today CNN reported Secretary of State Clinton was in Kenya. Dancing. Dancing her fool head off. She's got more rhythm than Obama! And to top it off, one Kenyan man offered her some goats and cows in exchange for Chelsea as his second wife.
There is NO INFORMATION on whether or not that offer was accepted. I certainly wouldn't give away my daughter for some cows and goats. If he were to throw in a Lincoln, on the other hand...(LOL!)

Yep, it seems that goofiness is everywhere, and money grabbers are still trying to get what I ain't got. They keep it up much longer, and they'll get NOTHING. It's a simple fact... AS I SEE IT.
