Of Liars, Fools and crooks... Or Liars, Fools, and crooks, OH MY!

Like most people, I have an Email account.
I have multiple accounts.  I've also shut down some.  Others were shut down.

A few days ago, I stopped at one to get a payment receipt for one of my recurring bills.

There's a lot of junk.  Typical Spam:  Penis enhancement, Vet benefits (Assholes don't understand that I wasn't in the military),  Scams (auto warrant, lowering card rates)..
Then there was one I didn't recognize -  Subject "Our records show you have been hacked..."

No attachments to that last one, and I wouldn't open an attachment, anyway.

I decided I'd look at the Email.

It began:  "Hi.  I'm a hacker who took control of your system several months ago."

Then, this crook (fool) decided he'd threaten me, blackmailing and extorting.

He told me what account had been hacked.  He told me what password he used.  And he said that this Trojan was undetectable and would mutated every 4 hours, sending any changed password to him.

THEN he hit me with attempted blackmail an extortion.  He claimed that he had taken control of my camera and had obtained a video of me masturbating to porn.  He'd attached a "timer" to the Email which indicated time read, and he would send pictures to everyone in my contact list in 48 hours unless his demands were met.  He demanded $950.00. sent to his bitcoin account.

Then "Don't show this to anyone, or I'll take the funds anyway and release the video!"
But he said "When I receive payment, I will delete the video and you'll never hear from me again."

I asked "What proof do I have that he will?"

It didn't matter.  More than 2 days have passed.
I ignored the letter and it's on its way to the cops.  :)

Why did I ignore it?  Because it was obviously bullshit!
He told me what password took control of my system.  That's interesting.  Hacking an Email won't take control of someone's system, unless there's an attachment (which I won't open!)
And the password, "Need2fish," I have never used.  NEVER.  Not on my computer, not in any email account, nowhere!

He claimed he had a video of me.  THAT would be a very good trick.  It would require a camera and microphone.  Kind of hard to get a video without that, don't you think?  And if I had one, do you think it would not have the lens covered?  Or that I'd have a dummy plug to prevent sound from getting picked up?  What a freaking moron!

Very polite criminal, requesting $950.00.  You'd think he'd just go in and wipe me out.
He'd be sorely disappointed.  What I have in the bank is considerably less than what he demanded.

Anyway, at the end he claimed that the Email and bitcoin accounts were not traceable, and he doesn't "make mistakes."  Well, he made several.  a Phony password.  A lie about a video (really, you DO need a camera, two computers that I have don't have a camera!
He thinks he can extort and blackmail?  Nope.
And he had other mistakes.  The Email came from the Czech republic.   (It's untraceable, huh?)
Of course, he could have used a proxy server.
I didn't even bother with the bitcoin crap.

His biggest mistake was thinking he could blackmail me, and that I would turn in the letter to the authorities.

I advise him to "watch your back."
Ya'll picked the wrong victim.

And you know what?  He's gonna be on the run.
That's the fact:  AS I SEE IT!
