It's time to vent!

I've been away from here for some time, nearly 5 months, but now I'm FUMING...

The government of this country is supposed to protect, in so much as it is possible without denying us our God-given rights, the states and the people of this country.  The President is supposed to enforce the laws which are supposed to protect us -- and yet...

Current crisis is not averted and is the worst possible situation imaginable.

When Typhoid fever hit this nation, people were quarantined, carriers of the disease (even without symptoms) were kept apart (I hate to use the word segregated, but it is the word) to protect the rest of the people.  Typhoid was virulent, often fatal, and untreatable, incurable.  It was NOT, however, a swift killer.

Science and Physicians have managed to control, and in some cases eradicate or nearly so, diseases like rubella, smallpox, polio.  But many governments, our own included, sit on stockpiles of the germs and viruses, tampering with them to make them more effective killers.  HOW DOES THIS HELP US?!

Obama's refusal to enforce the border laws is becoming well known, and those who flood the border are carrying diseases which we've controlled well.  This is not safety!

But now, this government is doing (or not doing?) the unthinkable.  They are bringing home 2 people who are exposed to, and quite possibly will be come ill with, the most virulent and swiftest killer ever known in the realm of living things -- the one that could, conceivable, wipe out more than 90% of the world's population -- if that disease "gets loose."  And instead of doing something about it, the President is "letting it happen."

Atlanta is home to the only US acknowledged stockpile of Smallpox.  And they are bring in, with 2 very likely walking-dead individuals, the worst plague since the black death, and one that has the potential to do far and away more damage than Bubonic Plague every did.

DEVIL, THY NAME IS EBOLA.

To protect the health of our citizens, we MUST NOT allow the two to return, despite the fact that they are citizens.

We're told that the containment is the tightest in the country.  FOOL-PROOF?  Well, they're constantly building a better class of fool.

How long will it be before containment fails?  When will be notified that the disease is rampant and killing everyone?

We know the name of the co-conspirator.  If no order stopping the import of this disease is issued, we know, too, thy face.  But who, in 2 years, will be around to accuse you?

You are complicit in this plot to destroy if you take no action.  I'm watching.  The Nation watches.  And you, in your own self-absorbed, narcissistic way, play golf.  As I write this, the plane may be arriving.  Kiss your ass goodbye, America.  We're bringing home a killer who will soon be loose on the street and unstoppable.

Forty-Four years have passed...where were you? Of the Moon, Mars, Space flight, and NASA

If you were around on this date in history, 44 years ago, where were you on this day, July 20th?

I remember it like yesterday.  On the 16th, I watched a rocket take off -- this was THE DEFINITIVE MOON SHOT...This one HAD to go!  There was no way around it -- There were risks...

I remember it:  I was in Buffalo, MN, on Lake Pulaski, on that hot summer day.  I was singing to myself about Apollo 11...I still remember the words "Tranquility base here.  The Eagle has landed."

Oh, the excitement that day.  Bicentennial fever hadn't yet taken hold, and wouldn't even begin to take hold until 5 years later.   There was something about that day, though...you can't quantify it unless you were there!

But now...NASA is undergoing budget cuts for years and now the government is trying to cut even more.  The Republicans want the budget CUT, the DFL wants the money directed for "Social" pursuits... I, for one, am disgusted!

It costs millions or billions of dollars to send up a satellite these days.  We are reaching a point where the Earth won't be able to take much more...not in climate change, but in maximum productivity.  Certain resources are scarce as it is; it is reaching a point where we need to have more.  But what can be done if the Government keeps slashing NASA'S funds?

TRUE:  The Government is not required to fund NASA.  But they founded it; they should fund...to a point.

We've checked out our solar system pretty well, now.  There seems to be no indication of life on the other worlds; we are alone in the solar system.  But we still need room, we need places to grow crops, we need more metals, more oil, more water, more land.  These are givens.

I am not, really, in favor of a Mars colony, nor a moon base.  The ISS has served its purpose, but it is reaching the end of its useful life.  We need to be able to shield ourselves against Solar Flares, Cosmic Rays, and Rogue meteors and comets.  We can't do that if NASA has no budget!

We need faster rockets, safer methods of travel.  And despite my opposition to a permanent Lunar base and Martian colony, I see the necessity.  But it also leads to great isolation of the people where they go.

There is talk of breaking the light-speed barrier.  I have doubts that this can be done, but the work, theoretical though it is, must continue.  There are too many variables in our world, there will be more elsewhere.  We have yet to find a habitable world.  We MUST explore; it is our nature!  We must grow or perish.  This is the reason we need to continue to fund, and fund well, our space program.

AS I SEE IT, if we do not continue our outreach, we are condemning ourselves to extinction.  Dinosaurs could not leave the planet, and then one day they were no more because of a hit by a large meteorite.  Earth has been hit numerous times, only a few were E.L.E (Extinction Level Event).  We have the knowledge, the ability, the technology, to move forward and reach out.  But Congress is slowly killing us, and other nations such as India, China, North Korea, and the like, are moving out... and we, the ones who first set foot on our only natural satellite of size, are sitting on our duffs.

We can't land on Jupiter; it's gas, there is no place to land.  We can't land on Saturn, ditto, but it's even farther out.  It takes 29 of our years for Saturn to orbit once, Jupiter takes 12.  Venus is too hot, even if we could tame the environment, the atmosphere is toxic.

What's left?  It would take 4 years to reach the nearest star other than our own sun.  We need fast, and that is at light speed!

It still takes 3 days to reach the moon.  If we can cut our time to, say, 10 hours, We'll have made tremendous progress.

The Moon MUST remain as a "jumping off" point.  Mars MUST be colonized.  There's really no way around it.

44 Years ago, we had a major success -- but we've rested on our laurels since 1972.  Technology has advanced -- but our engines are just as primitive as they were.  This isn't progress; it's stagnation!

I plead with Congress and the President:  FUND NASA FULLY.  Get the engines up to snuff.  Get the bases and colonies started.  It is the only way we can survive as a PEOPLE...AS I SEE IT!

The Apollo program is over.  We need motivation.  WE need another JFK to get the ball rolling.  And that president, be it man or woman, MUST strive for full funding...or else.  Let's triple what we give 'em now.  And let's watch the miracles happen!


 

September, time for AUGUST Canaries!

Absurdity! Absurdity! It's time to issue a Canary or three!

Not Dog, nor cat, nor horse, nor rabbit... I'm in the CANARY HABIT!

Ah, August was a FINE MONTH for nominees for the Canary awards! From a debt collector, to the Govt, to the Mortgage company, to a guy on Twitter, to the weather, to the power company, to the Satellite Company, to the Phone Company, to the anesthesiologist... OH, I had nominees galore.

It wasn't too hard to determine who was gonna get the BIRD. The question was who was gonna get WHICH bird.

While the weather caused a lot of problems last month (Tearing off the roof, wrecking a carport, leaving us without power for 41 hours, without phone service for 72 hours, and without satellite service for 60 hours, the weather STILL came in a distant fourth place.

Third place goes to a MORON whom I will not mention by name. He's a real jerk on Twitter. I thought there was hope for him, but I find I was wrong. This half-wit thinks that FAITH and FICTION are the same thing, seems to think if you can't quantify something it doesn't exist.

Well, I'm gonna respond to that: You can't see the stars in the day time. Therefore they don't exist. You can't see AIR. Therefore it doesn't exist. You can't see his brain, so it doesn't exist. (OH, I'm sorry -- he doesn't HAVE a brain, so it's obvious why you can't see it!)

To this fool, I want to point out that FAITH is a belief. SURE, you can believe in something that is an error. YOU have faith in Medical science. You believe that when you go to a physician, that he can cure you of what ails you. And just what happens when you are wrong?

I CAN'T SEE YOU, YOU do NOT EXIST, buddy! Bronze Canary for whatever your name is. I have NO REASON to believe that you told me the truth about your name. (SEE, that's my FAITH in action. My faith is in your lack of honesty!)

Second place gets the silver canary! And our all inclusive favorite "Debt collectors" get one this month. I was waiting for someone to come examine the house for repair work after the big storm. I see someone pull into the drive (Which is marked NO TRESPASSING), but I knew the insurance adjuster had my permission. To my surprise, it was a F***ing ass who was trying a door-to-door harassment approach to debt collection. I chased him off, told him "I have no time to talk to you. If you come back, I'll have you up on charges of Trespass." While I've not seen him since, I suspect he will return. And I will have the police out here in a matter of minutes!

And our illustrious GOLD CANARY, for the group I want to give the BIRD...goes to Mn School District 912! Since I moved to this area, I have voted down 8 times a proposed levy to "help" the schools around here. 7 times they've had the question on the ballot, one year they had it twice. I've voted it down 3 times in the last 2 years. And sure enough, these "TAX AND SPEND" jerks are at it again, Trying to get us to raise our property taxes for "The kids." But the thing is, they are spending A hundred Thousand trying to get us to raise the taxes! Why don't they stop trying to get us to raise our taxes and spend that money on THE KIDS? Because these morons on fundamentally STUPID, and their evil goes beyond sanity, beyond the darkest imagining of Stephen King! Raise my taxes? NO, NO, A THOUSAND TIMES NO, AND YOU WILL LOSE AGAIN, AS LONG AS I LIVE IN MN DISTRICT 912!

Canary Awards for MARCH!

In this world of the absurd, the time has come to give the bird...12 nominees, who will it be...One more time for a canary!

I LOVE Canary awards. It's a great way to say how you feel -- giving someone the BIRD. And THIS is truly an unusual month for Canaries!

12 nominees...including 2 credit card companies, 2 insurance companies, 2 collection agencies...You GOT to know who's getting 'em RIGHT? I mean, Household is going to grab one, RIGHT?

THAT's what makes this month unusual...not a single bill collector, not a single credit card company gets the bird this month...although some were close.

So WHO is getting the bird? If not Household, not Progressive, not NCO or ERC?

It's SO appropriate that this month starts with shouts of APRIL FOOL and ends with shouts of MAYDAY!

BRONZE CANARY: Our Illustrious leader himself, Barack Insane O-Blame-ya.

His heavy-handed tactics and general creepiness have set this country on the path to Communism with a heavy dose of Islamic Jihad thrown in for good measure.

SILVER CANARY--This one was easy after giving the Bronze to the President. Yeah, He deserves the bird, but another Bird goes to our "Take it all Away" Government. Our "noble" Congress (GOP and 34 DFLers excepted) are deserving of THE BIRD. Pushing through Obamacare, forcing people who can't afford insurance to buy it...taking away from those who earn their living only to have it given to someone else...

Death Panels now forming, folks. Get in now, you might be able to get a job later. MAYBE even health care. But right now, it looks as if the Morons are still in power...although we can hope for better results in November.

OH, yes... I must NOT FORGET our GOLD CANARY. Waste, fraud, bullshit... yep, this organization/branch of government is being awarded the BIRD. The CENSUS BUREAU!

One guy I know received 4 post cards from them...wanting info. This is a ONE FAMILY HOUSE, why the hell are they sending 4 cards? They're demanding the stuff back BEFORE the date given on the first question! They want people who are in the house/residence as of 4-1, but they want it back before 4-1 is even reached? What kind of Moronity is that?

They're demanding your FULL NAME, PHONE, BIRTHDAY, RACE... Why is Birthday so damned important? All the census really needs is NUMBER OF PEOPLE, GENDERS, and MAYBE ages.

They sure as hell ain't getting a phone number out of me. I'm not giving 'em a B-day. They don't need it. As for "RACE"-- well, I'm HUMAN. If they don't like it, they can LUMP it!

So, it's a first: An ALL GOVERNMENT CANARY AWARD CEREMONY. It'll be back to normal next month, I guess. And Since the Census can only win a couple of times a decade, I guess it's already on the path to another.

The pamphlet claims "YO ES HORA"

There are some people up-in-arms, as it were, over a pamphlet which promotes what I believe to be an illegal invasion of privacy ( a lot of unnecessary questions), because it claims "This is how Jesus was born" -- the pamphlet promotes the U.S. Census.  I didn't  look closely enough to see if the pamphlet was printed at Government expense.  I'm going back to see if it is.  And I find it was not printed at Government expense, nor was the Government responsible for the content of the poster.  That's fine and dandy.   But I'm not here to yak about the poster and content.  I'm here to rant and rave about something else..  It's almost time for the once-a-decade (Actually, now it is TWICE a decade) invasion of privacy by the U.S. Government -- an invasion of privacy known as the US CENSUS.   Michele Bachmann, Representative from MN, claims she won't fill out anything on the form except for names, genders, and ages.  And I agree.  Since when does the Government need to know if you live in a trailer, have trash pick-up, satellite TV, or a dog named Sandy?   Why don't they ask 4 simple questions -- 4 questions that can be used to count the people? 1) How many live in your house or apartment? 2) What are your ages? 3) What are your genders? 4) Are you CITIZENS OR LEGAL IMMIGRANTS ?   Four questions.  Everything thing you need to know.   I don't care if you ARE married, or not.  I don't care if you're a single mother, or if you are disabled. (The last one is odd, when you consider that I am disabled -- hearing loss, afflicted with Asthma-- both of which affect my ability to work... Can't answer phones when you can't hear, can't work outside when it's too cold, can't do a lot of heavy lifting because Asthma will stop you.)   I don't care if you have 3 bedrooms, 2 baths.  I don't care if you go to church every week.  I don't care if you consider yourself "African-American," "Black," or "Nigger."  I don't care if you are from Spain, Mexico, Columbia, China, Russia, or Japan.  I DO care if you are here legally.   I REALLY don't care about your heritage.  I don't care that you are related to William Shakespeare, Justin Bieber, or Barack Obama.  I don't care if you're a Republican or Democrat if you don't try to influence my lifestyle too much.    I DO care if you are employed, retired, or a lazy bum who's living on Public Assistance.  This, of course, does not include the disabled.   I Do NOT care if you sweep streets, teach at the University, sing professionally, or if never made it to college.  If you can read (Provided you aren't blind), speak, or write, I really don't care what your education is.  If you're a singer, I MIGHT bug you to do one of my songs, but that's another story!   IF you're going to use the census to invade our privacy beyond those for questions, I DO mind.  If you are here illegally, I DO mind.  IF you deal in illegal drugs, or are a murderer, I DO mind.   WHY does the government want illegals counted, anyway?   It's all politics.  There are estimates in the millions -- millions of illegals in the U.S.  I don't care if they are Latino, Arab, Swede, or some other nationality.  If you come to this country, come in legally.  If you can't come in legally, stay home.   STOP. If you're an illegal, don't think you should be entitled to everything to which a citizen is entitled.  You're entitled to a lawyer to fight your deportation.  As far as I am concerned, that's it.   If we have to participate in this census, we must be sure it's conducted fairly, we must be sure it's not an invasion of privacy beyond our four questions, and it must be used to track and deport illegals.    If this sounds harsh to you, I suggest a little research on the laws of Iran, Mexico, China, and Cuba.   I'm not saying eliminate the census.  Nor am I saying don't participate.  I'm asying WE MUST MAKE IT WHAT THE FOUNDERS INTENDED.  That's the fact of the matter -- AS I SEE IT.

Obscene license plates

I got a chuckle today from an article on CNN. It seems a license plate was banned as "Obscene". Now, some of them I can understand: Examples would be

and loads of others, right?

What is banned? I don't know the state that banned it, but I must say "I AGREE"

The banned plate reads "TOFU"

I wonder what PETA says about that....
Tofu, of course, is that horrible soybean stuff...

Some people are obviously reading the thing wrong...but I still say that "TOFU" is definitely obscene. Most people agree: Tofu SHOULD be banned... from stores, as well as from license plates.

It's ABOUT TIME that people saw TOFU for what it really is: DISGUSTING!
